William had told us in his written letter that his P Day (preparation day) was going to be on Tuesday....so I excitedly woke up and checked my e mail, then checked it every few MINUTES until it came. (actually I did other stuff on the computer while waiting, and NO, it wasnt "Twitter"!!!)
William said that the first few days were really rough, but every day is getting better. He thinks his companion is cool. They are relying ("completely relying") on the "gift of tongues" to teach their "investigator" (I put quotes around investigator because the investigators at the MTC are just volunteers or other teachers acting like an investigator.). He says that the Spirit is great at the MTC and that he uses it a lot while teaching.
One of the people in his district knows no English.
He got to go to the temple.
He doesnt like eating the food, but that's ok because he met someone who has already gained 30 pounds while there at the MTC.
Have you heard of the MTC tradition or "pass alongs"? It's what past missionaries have left for future missionaries to find. Well, his room is full of them....things like nerf guns, a basketball hoop, and a poster which everyone who has ever had that room has signed. They also have a pair of sweatpants which each elder gets for a week then passes it along to the next elder. (This is William's week to wear the sweats!) The last pass along they found was a "GIGANTIC" (his word, his capitalization) bra in a closet...it was in HIS closet. Rumor has it that the bra has been in that closet for 18 years.
The first three days he spent looking hard for his friend/old roommate Josh. He was getting super discouraged because he had seen everyone else he knew was there so often, but never Josh.....thennnnnnnnnn, he remembered that Josh is in the Guatemala MTC right now and he felt and still feels very dumb about it.
The thing he misses the most is music (and dancing). He loves to bust out the moves, but cant because one of the many rules is no dancing. He does like the hymns, though and he and his companion sing allllllll (extra llllls are his) the time and feel the spirit while singing hymns.
The only mail he has received was cookies from Aunt Trish and family, so those of you who haven't written to him, do so now...haha!!!!
The rest I'm going to leave as a quote, because these words are HIS words and they are part of his testimony, so I don't want to change them or paraphrase------
"I dont really know what else to say besides I know what I'm doing is right and that Heavenly Father lives. Joseph Smith is a BOSS. I love learning about him. my favorite hymn is probably hymn #1 the morning breaks. A choir performed that and i dont think ive ever heard anything more beautiful in my life.
I'm out of time. Bye. Love you guys. Don't worry about me I'm having a great time!!!!!!!!
I can't wait til France."
